The St George's Parent, Teacher and Friends Association, or PTFA as it is commonly referred to, is a formal organization composed primarily of teachers and parents. It is intended to facilitate parental participation in the school and to build strong working relationships amongst parents and teachers in support of the children. Although the perception is often that this extends only to the assistance with organization of fund-raising events, it is certainly not limited to this. The welfare of the children and their families, socialization of the children in and outside of school and community participation are also at the forefront of most endeavors. The PTFA also serves as a platform for discussions with management of the school around a number of educational issues and educational programmes. These open channels of communication enrich perspectives of both parents and teachers and are ultimately for the benefit our children.
